Sweet 16 Tribute Drive – Help Us Bring the Roar Back
This isn’t just a birthday. This is a memory in the making.
My daughter is turning 16 this September, and all she wants is to feel close to her dad again — the man who raised her, loved her, and drove her around in his ’89 black Mustang GT 5.0 with the windows down and the bass up.
That sound? That roar? That was him.
Her father died by suicide a few years ago, and we lost more than just him — we lost the Mustang too. It was sold during a hard season when bills were piling up and life was falling apart. We trusted someone to hold it for us. Instead, they flipped it for more money, and we never saw it again. 
To this day, my daughter goes to car meets. She works at a race track.
She listens for his engine every chance she gets.
She still hopes one day it might pull up and surprise her.
We know the chances of that are slim, due to the struts had been rotted the floor board on the passenger side was rotting, but we know the engine and everything else worked fine, so seeing the same body probably will never happen again, but there is mustangs that look like his around.
But this year, for her Sweet 16, we’re asking for something that might just come close…
If you drive a Mustang — ANY year, any style — we are begging you to come swing by.
Show off your ride. Park for a while show off your cars! Let her hear that rumble.
Give her a moment where it feels like he’s back, even if it’s just for a minute.
